NOTE: 9.2.22. The hoardings have gone. There is access again between Railway Walk/Earlsborough Terrace and the car park. This means people on cycles can ride through the car park as an alternative to adding to the crush on Railway Walk. Yesterday afternoon the latter was busy but the car park was quiet so it felt practical and safe to ride between the cars. NOTE: 8.2.22. A miserable, rainy day. Dark at 17.00... The situation here is as yesterday ie the hoardings are still in situ and there is no lighting for much of Railway Walk. Disappointing. [Image taken 7.2.22] Railway Walk/Marygate car park, York. [NOTE: No streetview at this location.] Context see: #177536. The prefab used for the Museum Gardens flood defence works (www.gov.uk/government/news/plans-to-improve-flood-defences-in-york-s-museum-gardens-approved) has gone. The temporary lighting on the hoardings and in the compound but lighting the stretch of Railway Walk alongside have gone. The posters on the side facing the wooded area have gone. This must mean works have been completed or are close to completion and the structures will all be removed. This will make Railway Walk lighter and less intimidating feeling. I also hope gaps in the low level fencing will be reinstated to enable people to move between the car park and the cycle-ped-wheelchair routes more easily.
